The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), has continually worked at their long term goal to uplift the Johannesburg City Core public environment. In late 2014, the JDA appointed Bosch Projects, together with other professionals, to successfully initialise and complete the ICC Precinct Public Environment Upgrade Project.
The main focus is to create quality public environments, which include capital works to strengthen pedestrian connections, upgrade recreational facilities, development of public transport priority routes and provide safe areas for pedestrians and informal traders.
The project area is fenced in by Jorissen (N), Wemmer Jubilee (S), Miriam Makeba (W) and End Street (E) in Johannesburg. Bosch Projects was appointed as Electrical Consulting Engineer on the team and services include:
- Designing electrical infrastructure that is according to SANS, JDA and City Power standards
- Providing effective street lighting for the traffic flow and Pedestrian walkways
- Specifying and ensuring the correct hardware is used, as City Power specifies, to ensure maximum benefit is received and enjoyed by the end user and care taker of the infrastructure.
In June 2015, Phase 1 of the project’s construction began, which will provide the community with walkways and streets, improved visibility and will offer a safer environment to work and commute within.
