Project Scope:

The Quayside Container Handling Facility is a 10 000 m2 open storage yard that is currently used to store empty containers and general material. The facility previously had long-standing warehouse buildings which had to be demolished to enable the creation of an open storage yard.

The project entailed rehabilitating and upgrading the Quayside Facility to an operational level for the purpose of handling heavy loads such as stacking empty storage containers (5 high) or any other cargo/material on the finished surface. To accomplish this the following activities were required: mass clearing, excavation to stockpile and spoil, installation of Maccaferri Road Mesh (due to the extremely high water table), screening, crushing, bulk earthworks and stormwater upgrades.
